You can easily create an online registration form for your school holiday programme using Sporty.
This article outlines how to create a basic form using commonly used fields, along with helpful tips to streamline the process. Follow these steps to get started:
1. Access Form Builder
By going to your Dashboard > Online Registrations, then click +Build New Form.
2. Enter a form name
Select option of Season as this is helpful for inviting people to re-register in the future
3. Set Advanced Options
There are many settings available. Commonly used options include:
Show Timestamp – Shows the exact date and time a registration is submitted.
Allow registrants to edit later – Lets people update their registration later (enabled by default; untick if you don’t want this).
Enable family registrations – Allows grouping of family members under one contact with a shared payment.
Email copy of registration confirmation – Sends a copy to you or a nominated email each time someone registers. Useful for keeping track of registrations are they are coming in.
Start/Final date for entries – Controls when the form opens and closes. (Important: if you only remove a form link from your site but don’t close the form, people with the link can still register.)
4. Add form questions
Give thought to field types you use. For example, in the question below a SingleChoice field type is used for the 'School Year' question. This then makes it easy to sort on this field type as standardised responses can only be selected.
Understand System fields vs Custom fields - see Building & Editing a Form support article for a detailed explanation.
5. Use Sections & Conditions
Use conditions to display questions based on a previous answer. For example, if someone answers “Yes” to “Do you have medical conditions?”, you can then display additional questions asking for more detail.
Tip: the conditional response must be in a separate section to the question
6. Set Attendance fields
Create an attendance field for each date. This enables you to:
- Set a maximum number of attendees per day
- Enable a waitlist
See the Attendance Tracking support article for detailed instructions on using Attendance fields (including how you can sing in people and report on who has attended)
Tip: set the section to Requires answer. This ensures people must select at least one date option when registering.
7. Take online payments
Take the hassle out of collecting fees manually by taking online payments at the time of registration. Integrate with Xero or MYOB to raise invoices.
See support articles on online payments, setting mandatory payments, using triggers.
8. Save & Display your forms
Once you are happy with your form layout, save it and display it via the Online Form widget on your Sporty site, or obtain a direct link to share to Facebook or via email.
