Sporty provides a utility called TeamBuilder that is available for every club and school in New Zealand, and is the most common (& popular) method to enter teams in to sports competitions.
This is achieved by the club or school creating a team(s), and adding the team(s) to their grades that are set by their competition manager in TeamBuilder.

As TeamBuilder was released on 1 February 2024. This date is part way through the registration season for some codes. For this reason, for some codes eg. Rugby, Rugby League & Touch, the method for entering a team will be a slightly different process until the end of their current season.
Creating a Team
1. View one: Create a team against a competition
This is where each competition, created by the competition organiser, is displayed separately.
The first step in creating a team is to select the competition that you are entering teams into. Clubs and schools will see competitions that their competition organiser has opened for them to enter teams into.
1.1 Select the competition that you are entering a team for.
1.2 TeamBuilder will open for the competition, with all grades for that competition, available on the right. People registered into your player database will be displayed on the left hand side.
1.3 Open the grade that you want to create a team in. Do this by clicking anywhere on the grade. Then click + Add Team.
1.4 This opens the Team Entry modal. Your details will automatically be populated. Complete the fields with the appropriate information, then click Submit.
1.5 The team that has been entered will now appear in TeamBuilder under the appropriate grade and registrants can now be added to the team.
If min/max roles have been set and they are not yet met, or there are players who require further action the circle around the team will be red to identify that action is to be taken.
The circle will appear grey if there are no set team requirements, which once registrants are added then circle will turn green.
2. View two: Create a team against a registration form
For the remaining of your codes 2024 season, from the TeamBuilder landing screen, click to open the registration database that you want to create a team in.
2.1 This will open the database displaying all registrants on the left-view and all grades on the right-view.
2.2 Open the grade that you want to create a team in. Do this by clicking anywhere on the grade. Then click + Add Team.
2.3 Enter the new team name in the pop-up and click Add Team.
2.4 The team that has been entered will now appear in TeamBuilder under the appropriate grade and registrants can now be added to the team.

Editing a Team
Click on the team name to open the team. From here you can add team members, contact your team members, export your team, view your squad sheet, send a link for people to register themselves and view minimum/maximum role requirements. You can also edit your team.
TeamBuilder is now easy to view on mobile. On mobile, click the blue hamburger menu to view the additional team options.
After clicking Edit Team you can update the Team Name, Grade and any details collected on the Team Entry form (if Team Entry forms are used). Click Save or Submit to finalise the changes.
You are able to grade or team name up until the date the team entries have closed for the grade selected. After this date only the competition organiser will be able to change grade or team name.
