In TeamBuilder, it's possible to allocate a person to more than one team, and or to more than one competition. For example, a person may be a player in A Team, and a coach in B Team. Or, if your rules allow it, they may play for a team in one grade and another team in a different grade.
Note: This support article does not apply to all codes as some codes restrict the ability to play in more than one team.
This article includes:
Part A: Adding a person to multiple teams
1. Firstly, drag-and-drop the person from the player list on the left into a team on the right hand side. It will update their record on the left to show they are in that team and it will set the grade and team name on their record.
2. Tick on 'In a team' to show all people in the database. Drag-and-drop the person from the 'In a team' person list on the left into their second team (e.g. Masters). When you do this, a Move or Add Person pop-up will appear.
Click Move to move the person from Team 1 into Team 2.
Click Add to add the person to another team. A pop-up is displayed to select the role/s that the person should have in the second team.
Select the role/s required and click Add Person and they will appear in both teams.
Depending on the sport, there may be more or less roles available to assign to a person.
The person's record will display twice, once in the standard text font which relates to the original registration, and once in italics to show that this is an additional team that the same person has been entered in.
Part B: Adding people to multiple competitions
All players (and non-players) register one time using the same form for the season, for example the Netball Registration 2024 form. Even if the player (or non-player) is to participate in multiple competitions, for example the Pre season competition and the Senior Competition, they still are only required to register once. The below article explains how to add the same player (or non-player) to more than one team.
You have added a player into a team for a competition and now you want to add them into another team in a different competition. Using the below example, we have added player Ginny Blackmore into the team Bluebirds for the Pre season competition 2024 competition.
We now want to add Ginny into Senior Competition for another team.
1. In TeamBuilder select the competition.
2. Your view will open loaded on the Not in a team tab. This may appear empty if you have moved all people registered to the registration form into teams in other competitions.
3. Click the In a team checkbox to display all people.
4. Having both Not in a team and In a team tabs selected means you will see all people in the database.
This view shows the grade and team name the person has already been entered into. In the example Ginny is in a team and is in the Bluebirds in the Premier grade.
5. Open the grade which you'd either like to enter a team against, or that already has the team entered that you want to move the person into. In this example, we have already created the A Team under the Premier grade that we want to move Ginny into.
6. As our Add players to a team article outlines, please add the player you want to move into the additional team by clicking and dragging, or by selecting all those that are in the same team and moving them at once. A pop-up will appear that asks you to confirm whether you would like to Move or Add them to the additional team.
In this example, we click and drag Ginny into the A Team and are presented with the following message. Please note that this is the same message that is received if moving a person into another team in the same competition.
7. Click Add, the add the person into the additional team. You will then be asked to select which roles they should have. In this example, we want Ginny to be a player in the A Team.
Click Add Person once you have made your selection.
Please note that if you click Move you will remove the person from the other team or teams that they have been added to, so please be careful.
8. The player that we added into the additional team in the different competition will now show two records, however they appear visually different. Please see this support article for further information.
In this example, Ginny appears twice. Once in standard text which represents her original record in the first team, and the second instance in italics which represents her additional record in the second team.
The view of people that you see are pulled through from the same form/database regardless of which competition it is that you are entering. In the example used above, this is the Netball Registration 2024 form/database. By clicking this drop-down, you can select previous years, or other forms that may be associated to the specific sport.
