What is the Game Day Player feature?
Netball allows for people who are not associated to the team, but that are filling in a spot on the team, to be recorded against the team for that specific game by completing a Game Day Player registration form on the day (payments are not facilitated). This player(s) can then be invited to register directly with the club or school to play in future games. You can invite the player(s) to register directly with the club/school via SuperCRM filtering, or through Online Registrations.
Once enabled by your Netball Centre, this feature is by default turned on for each grade in your competition(s). When enabled, the team manager at the game, on the day, can select an option to Add game day player. This brings up a simple registration form called Game Day Player where the details of this person are then entered. Once submitted, this adds the game day player to the team to play the game and they appear just as the rest of team does.
This is useful to keep a history of those who have played for you, and who had contributed to games. This feature also allows for the Centre to create a filter in SuperCRM to see all Game Day Players and their associated data.
When exporting the game day event reports, the game day player will appear with no official team listed but they will appear with their specific game day information beside their name. This is visible to both the Centre (via SKED Game Events Reports) and the club/school (via TeamBuilder Game Reports).
Any players registered via the Game Day Player registration form will not be visible on the Netball Registration form in TeamBuilder and Online Registrations as these are two separate databases/forms. These players will also not appear on the consolidated report against the Netball Registration form.
Enable/Disable Allow game day players
Note: This is only possible once the Netball Centre has requested this feature be enabled for their organisation and affiliated clubs & schools.
The Centre can enable/disable this via 2 methods. 1) Organisation settings to set the standard per grade prior to the competition starting, or 2) Phase settings to update a specific grade(s) in a phase if the competition has already begun.
Organisation Settings
1. Login to your Sporty site and navigate to SKED.
2. Click the organisation settings cog.
3. Click Grade Defaults then Advanced Options beside the grade(s) that you want to enable/disable this feature.
4. By default, Allow game day players is enabled, displayed with a tick in the checkbox. If you want to disable the feature, untick the checkbox and click Done.
Phase Settings
1. In the Comp Builder tab, click the phase setting cog.
2. Click Advanced Options beside the appropriate grade(s).
3. By default Allow game day players is ticked. Untick the checkbox to disable this feature for this grade in the specific grade. Click Done to save your choices. If disabled for a grade there will not be the option for a team manager to add a game day player via the scoring app.
MyNetball Manager App
By default Allow game day players is enabled, The MyNetball Manager App now shows Add Player rather than Pick from other squad when selecting the team for the game. See the below image.
If the feature has been disabled, you will only see Pick from other squad. This is a per grade setting which means you can decide to turn off for certain grades in your competition(s).
1. Click Add Player.
You will now be presented with two options.
- Add game day player; add a person who is playing casually for the game.
- Pick from other teams; select a registered player from a different team to play in your game.
2. Click Add game day player.
3. The Game Day Player registration form will open on screen with the FixtureID pre-loaded and locked. The FixtureID is the specific number for that game.
Please note that payments are not facilitated through the registration form. For those Centres who require payment as part of the game day player process, they could continue to use the current process many centres have adopted as outlined here, which requires payment prior to registration.
Enter the game day players details and click Submit.
4. The game day player will appear in amongst your other selected players as shown below.
Remember to click Done once you have selected your team that is playing the game.
Exporting Team Reports
When exporting a team report such as Player Stats, the game day player that had been added on the day of the game will be included in the report. However, they will appear with no information within the Official Grade and the Official Team columns. This is because they are not an official member of the team.
Viewing game day players
The Netball Centre and affiliated clubs and schools will have a new registration form visible in Online Registrations called Game Day Player.
The Netball Centre can run a consolidated report or create a filter in SuperCRM to view all people registered on the Game Day Player form.
