Most sports prevent players in a higher grade from player in a team in a lower grade. If you are using the scoring app, there is the ability to set this restriction. This restriction is set in SKED as a grade default setting.
Setting the grade default
1. In SKED, go to Organisation Settings.
2. Click the Grade Defaults tab and select Advanced Options..
4. When Allow players from a higher grade to play in this grade is ticked, players entered in a team seeded/graded higher are able to be selected to play in this grade ie. they are allowed to play down in a lower grade.
5. Untick this checkbox to prevent players from higher seeded/graded teams from being able to be selected. Click Done. Any competitions subsequently created using this grade, will inherit this default setting.
Bulk edit grade defaults
For grades that share the same grade default settings, there is a bulk edit function available to allow you to edit all grades, or a selection of grades at the same time. In the Grade Defaults screen, click Bulk Edit
Click the Grade drop down and chose the grades to be edited in bulk, then click Advanced Options to tick on or off the Allow players from a higher grade to play in this grade checkbox.
Changing the default grade setting for a specific competition phase
This default grade setting can be changed an individual phase of a competition if required. For example to allow players in the first phase of a competition to play in any grade, then for subsequent phases introduce a restriction.
1. Click the settings cog in the phase where changes are required.
2. Click Advanced Options for the grade and change the default setting and Save.
How the grade restriction displays when selecting players in the scoring app
The example below shows the Senior 2 grade which has three grades higher and one grade lower.
In this first screen shot, Allow players from a higher grade to play in this grade is ticked. This means you are able to select players from teams in grades that are higher, lower or equal.
In the second screen shot, Allow players from a higher grade to play in this grade is unticked. Therefore only in teams in the Senior 2 grade or lower grades are now available to select players from.
How does this work for seeded/graded teams?
When the default setting is in use (allowing players from higher grades to play down), all teams that are seeded/graded higher will appear, as well as the grades that are higher.
When the default setting is changed (preventing players from higher grades to play down), only teams that are seeded/graded lower than you will appear, as well as the grades that are lower.
How to define the grade order
The grade hierarchy which determines what grades are above or below one another is set in the Manage Grades area. Grades are created in TeamBuilder, but the ranking order is managed in the Manage Grades area.
1. To access Manage Grades, from the Dashboard, click the Admin Settings tile.
2. Then click Manage Grades.
3. Each grade will have a number beside it indicating its order in the grade hierarchy. To change the order, use the drag-handle next to each grade to move it up or down the list. The highest ranked grade will be in position (1).
When you add new grades via TeamBuilder, you'll need to go into the Manage Grades area to set the hierarchy. Newly added grades that haven't been assigned a position will appear with (0) next to the grade name.
