The Vehicles tab is used for registering new vehicles, or for linking or changing ownership of existing vehicles on your MSNZ profile.

- Change of Ownership
- Add a New Vehicle Application
- Printing a Logbook
Searching for a Vehicle
From the Vehicles tab, click Search Vehicle to search for an existing vehicle by chassis number. A full chassis number is required to search for a vehicle.
Linking a Vehicle
This is used to associate a vehicle with your profile when you don't own it but borrow it for events.
Click Link to Profile so the vehicle can be selected in an event registration or authority card application.
Change of Ownership
To change ownership of a vehicle, click Search Vehicle, then click Change of Ownership on the vehicle's profile. An email is sent to the previous owner.
Register a New Vehicle
If searching by chassis ID returns "Vehicle not found," the vehicle isn't currently registered with MotorSport New Zealand. The Register Vehicle button appears below the search bar once you've searched — click it to register the vehicle.
Fill in all required details and click Submit. Check that all information is correct, as you won't be able to edit the application after submission.
This is an example of what the form will look like:
Return to the Vehicles tab to view your newly added vehicle profile.
Viewing a Vehicle
Selecting a vehicle shows its full details. Vehicle details can't be edited by the vehicle owner — if you identify that the vehicle details are incorrect, contact MSNZ or a Tech Official to update them on your behalf.
An owned vehicle displays Vehicle History and Ownership History.
Vehicle History
Vehicle History displays existing applications for the vehicle, each application's status, and its submission date. From here, you can add a new application or update an existing application.
Ownership History
Ownership History displays all previous owners and the dates they owned the vehicle, plus anyone who currently has the vehicle linked to their profile as a borrowed vehicle.
Add a New Vehicle Application
Select the owned vehicle, then select the Vehicle History tab and click + Form.
This prompts you to choose from the following licencing options:
- MSNZ Certificate of Description Application
- MSNZ Safety of Structure Application
- MSNZ Vehicle Technical Passport
Click Add and complete the application. Once submitted, MSNZ will review it to approve or decline.
Update a Vehicle Application
Select the owned vehicle, then the Vehicle History tab. Click the circular arrow icon on the application, edit the required fields, and click Submit. MSNZ will review it to approve or decline.
Printing a Logbook
A PDF logbook is required if you want to use the vehicle in an overseas event, and it replaces the previous physical logbook.
To print a new logbook, go to the vehicle record and click the print icon at the top of the screen.
The logbook will include:
- The vehicle's asset details
- Change of ownership history (last 2 years)
- Previous event history (full history)
