Complete the Safety Structure Application form to get a homologation certificate. This certificate number is added to your vehicle record, and a PDF of the approved structure is sent by MSNZ.
Adding an Application
A Safety Structure Application can be applied for by the vehicle owner, someone else, or a recognised manufacturer. In all cases, you'll need a profile to do the application.
An application can be saved as a draft to allow you to edit at a later stage. Once submitted, you will need to pay the application fee and will not have access to make further changes.
If you're not the owner of the vehicle, make sure you've first linked the vehicle to your profile. Any application you've saved or submitted from your profile will display in the vehicle history. Any other applications will only be visible to the owner.
Owner
Go to your vehicle record, expand the Vehicle History section, and click + Form. Select MSNZ Safety Structure Application from the dropdown. You'll be prompted to add a new application or update an existing one. An existing application can also be completed by clicking the update application button on the current application in the vehicle history screen.
Someone Else
Search for the vehicle by chassis ID or from your linked vehicles. Open the vehicle record and click Safety Structure Application. You'll be prompted to add a new application or update an existing one.
Recognised Manufacturer
Search for the vehicle by chassis ID or from your linked vehicles. Open the vehicle record and click Safety Structure Application. You'll be prompted to add a new application or update an existing one, and you'll also have the option to add a new type approval or use an existing one. If you select an existing type approval, choose it from the list.
Completing the Application
The vehicle details are pre-filled - complete all other fields, then click Submit. A payment cart will appear for you to pay any fees. An inspection is required - you'll need to contact MSNZ to arrange this.
This application can be saved as a draft at any point, to return to and complete later.

More Details of the Application Process

- Existing Type Approval - copies all details from the original type approval and lets you make changes. If you have more than six other applications for this type approval, an additional fee applies.

- Declined - MSNZ has reviewed and declined the application.
Submitting the Application
An application can be edited if it hasn't yet been approved by MSNZ — this lets you gather all required information before submitting. To edit, click the edit application button. Once you've completed the application, check the declaration box so MSNZ knows it's ready to be processed.
When Approved
Once an application is approved, a certificate number is generated and shown on your vehicle's profile.
Recognised Manufacturer
To become a recognised manufacturer, contact MSNZ. MSNZ will review your application and enable type approvals to be logged in your profile.
