For over ten years Sporty has provided clubs and schools with a web utility called TeamBuilder that can be used to create teams, enter them into competitions and then drag & drop participants into teams.
Sporty announced a major upgrade for TeamBuilder for 2024 and beyond. The new version is called TeamBuilder 2 (Blue).
What's changed?
- TeamBuilder 2 looks similar to the old version but it’s coloured blue to make it clear which version you’re using.
- You can now use TeamBuilder 2 on your phone to easily allocate players into teams when you're away from your computer.
- TeamBuilder 2 lets you select multiple players to allocate to a team at once.
- Competition organisers can now manage their own grade attributes, closing dates and team entry forms.
- Competition organisers now have a live view of the team building activity being performed by their clubs/schools, making it easier to help them if needed.
- It gives team managers a link (URL) that can be shared with people so they can register directly with a team if you wish (optional).
- TeamBuilder 2 makes it easier to identify teams that are not eligible to play. For example, if a team has insufficient players or coaches, or if some players haven’t completed mandatory fields or accepted the Terms & Conditions.
- It declutters the view for clubs/schools by only showing the competitions and grades relevant to each club/school.
- Team Managers/Coaches can see contact information for their team members, and easily send them group communications.

Who gets TeamBuilder 2 and when?
All sports organisations in New Zealand are able to get TeamBuilder 2 from 1st February 2024. TeamBuilder 2 has some customised features that are specific to individual sports codes. Those custom features are being released progressively sport by sport, often to align with the dates that each sport commences their next season.
Once TeamBuilder 2 has been enabled for your organisation, you’ll see some changes when you login to Sporty and click the TeamBuilder tile from your organisation dashboard.
