Every MSNZ digital licence shows the licence type, a QR code for scanning the licence, and a traffic light indicating whether the holder is currently eligible to take part in an event. This article explains what each licence type displays, what the traffic light colours mean, and how to clear a red or yellow condition.
Licence Types
Competition Licence
The Competition Digital Licence displays:
- A picture of the competitor
- The competitor's name and date of birth
- All approved grades and each grade's expiry date
- Whether corrective lenses are required
- The international medical card expiry date
- Emergency contact details
ClubSport Basic licences: if a competitor doesn't already hold a licence but registers for a ClubSport Basic event, a ClubSport Basic licence is automatically created for them.
Day Licence (Temporary M-Grade Licence)
The Day Digital Licence displays:
- A picture of the competitor
- The competitor's name and date of birth
- The event
- Emergency contact details
A Day Licence shows a red light when it's first registered. This clears once a Steward approves it at the event.
Entrant Licence
The Entrant Digital Licence displays:
- A picture
- The entrant's name
- The signatory's name
- The expiry date
A signatory may hold multiple entrant licences — each one will display separately.
Officials Licence
The Officials Digital Licence displays:
- A picture of the official
- The official's name
- All approved positions and each position's expiry date
- Emergency contact details
Viewing your Different Licences
To switch between licence types, click the arrow on the right-hand side of the screen.
Note: a person may hold multiple competitor or official licences, but only one licence per type will display.
Menu Options
Event History — displays the history of all attended events.
Vehicles — displays a list of vehicles currently owned by, or linked to, the person's profile. Clicking a vehicle opens its vehicle profile.
Traffic Light Status
Red — cannot sign in to race:
- An ambulance icon appears if a submitted injury report indicates a stand-down applies. This must be cleared by MotorSport New Zealand.
- A "!" icon appears if a submitted infringement report indicates a stand-down applies. This clears automatically at the end of the stand-down period.
- On a Day Licence, a "!" indicates a Steward still needs to approve the licence.
Yellow — conditions must be cleared before signing in:
- A "$" icon appears if there's an outstanding balance on the licence. The licence holder needs to clear this themselves (see below).
- A "!" icon means the driver doesn't have a current club membership. The licence holder needs to submit a club membership application and have it approved, or an official can override the condition.
Green — ready to race:
- A sign-in icon appears if the driver hasn't yet signed in to the event.
Clearing Traffic Light Conditions
Clicking a red or yellow light displays the outstanding issues that need to be resolved before race entry is approved. Most conditions need to be cleared by an official or by MotorSport New Zealand — for example, contact your club if you're waiting on a stand-down or membership approval. Outstanding payments, however, can be cleared directly from your mobile phone:
- Click the yellow traffic light.
- Select the infringement.
- Make the payment.
Once the payment is processed, the condition will clear automatically.
