Q: Why have I received an email requesting me to confirm an update to my email address?
Important: If you did not initiate the registration yourself, please report it immediately to support@sportsground.com for security reasons.
Here's an explanation of why you've received the email:
Sporty is designed to streamline the registration process by intelligently matching a new registration with your existing profile for your club or school.
If you complete a blank registration form for a club or school you've registered with before, and you enter a different email address from the one we have on record, we ask you to confirm this before we update your email address in our system.
Example:
Norm Allbloke's email address on file with ABC Club is normallbloke@sporty.co.nz.
Norm completes a blank registration form using the different email address normsnewemail@email.com. Two things will happen:
1. When Norm submits the form, a message appears on screen letting him know his email address has changed and that a confirmation email is being sent. This message is just a heads-up - no action is needed here.
2. An email is sent to Norm's current email address on file normallbloke@sporty.co.nz asking him to confirm the update. This is the step that actually confirms the change. Norm needs to click the link in this email for his email address to be updated in our system.
If Norm doesn't click the confirmation link, his registration will still go through, but his email address on file won't be updated.
If you can't access your old email account (in the example above this would be normallbloke@sporty.co.nz), you have two options:
- Contact your club/school administrator and they can update this for you.
- Email us at support@sportsground.com and we can update on your behalf.
