SKED helps you manage and share your competition draws, results, and venue information. By default, SKED uses abbreviations for venue and location names e.g. ‘THS: 1’ instead of ‘Township High School: Court 1’. This keeps things compact, especially where space is limited. However, there may be times when you want your draws, results, and exports to show the full venue and location names for greater clarity.
The ‘Disable abbreviations’ setting lets you control whether abbreviations show, or whether entire names are always displayed. This can help make your schedules easier to understand, especially for new participants or those unfamiliar with local shorthand.

What Does ‘Disable Abbreviations’ Do?
This setting allows you to switch between showing shortened names (abbreviations) and showing the full names for venues and locations within SKED. It impacts:
- Draw and Result Pages: The way venues/locations appear on your SKED dashboard and shared links.
- Widget Embeds: How schedules and results appear on your website if you use the SKED widget.
- PDF and CSV Exports: The naming used when you export your draws or results to PDF or spreadsheet files.
When Would I Use This Setting?
There are a few reasons you may wish to show full venue and location names:
- To help new players, families, referees, or supporters who are unfamiliar with local abbreviations.
- To improve clarity for communications or published schedules.
- When you want exported reports (PDF/CSV) to use full, formal venue names for record keeping or sharing.
If space is a priority (such as on small screens), keeping abbreviations enabled is still an option.
How To Enable Or Disable Abbreviations In SKED
The ‘Disable abbreviations’ setting is managed by Sporty on a per-organisation basis. If your organisation wishes to have full venue and location names displayed instead of abbreviations, please contact the Sporty support team at support@sportsground.com, to request this change.
Once the setting is applied, all draws, results, and exported files from SKED (including widgets, PDFs, and CSVs) will display the full venue and location names.
How Does This Setting Affect Draws, Results, And Exports?
- Draws & Results in SKED: The view updates to show the full venue/location names immediately, without any abbreviations.
- Draws & Results Widget on Your Website: The full venue and location names are shown.
- PDF Exports: The full venue and location names are shown.
- CSV Exports: The full venue and location names are shown.
This ensures consistency - wherever you look, or however you export your data, the naming matches your preference.
