New Zealand Football maintains an archive of player registrations that predate the COMET system. When processing player passport requests, NZF staff check this archive to identify any historical registrations that need to be recorded in Sporty. This ensures players have a complete registration history on their Electronic and PDF Player Passports.
Steps to Register Historic Player Data:
- Locate or Create the Person Record
- Complete the Football Player Registration (NZF Pre-Archive) Form
- Confirm FIFA ID (if applicable)
- Verification
1. Locate or Create the Person Record
If the person exists in SuperCRM: Navigate to their record, select the Registrations tab, and click +Add Registration.
If the person does not exist in SuperCRM: Navigate to Online Registrations, search for or navigate to the Football Player Registration (NZF Pre-Archive) form, then click +Add New
2. Complete the Football Player Registration (NZF Pre-Archive) Form
Select the relevant club from the dropdown list. Enter the start date and end date of the registration period.
Note: A separate registration must be created for each club the player was registered with.
3. Confirm FIFA ID (if applicable)
After submitting the form:
- If the player is not already in the Sporty ecosystem as a FIFA player, and is matched to an international participant, you'll be directed to the FIFA duplicate screen to confirm their FIFA ID
- If the player already exists in Sporty with a FIFA ID, the historical registration will be linked to their existing FIFA record automatically
4. Verification
Once processed, the historical registration will appear on both the player's Electronic Player Passport and PDF Player Passport.
Important Note for International Transfers
Before approving or auto-approving any international transfer out of New Zealand, NZF staff must:
- Check the historical registration archive for the player
- Add any archived registrations into Sporty following the process above
- Verify the registrations appear on the player's passport
- Proceed with the transfer approval
This ensures the player's complete registration history transfers with them to their new member association.
