Sporty helps manage stand-downs when a player has been concussed or suspended from play.
When enabled, this allows a sports official to complete a simple online report relating to an injury or a disciplinary issue. The report form lets the official set a suspension date. The Sporty game day scoring app checks this date when teams select their players for their team sheet on game day. If the game is within the suspension period, Sporty automatically prevents the player from being added to the team sheet and displays a message to the coach/manager that the player cannot play due to the current suspension.
Examples of sports that use this functionality are Rugby League and MotorSport. Practical use cases include:
- Injury where suspension is required for participant safety (e.g. 21 day stand-down for concussion)
- Disciplinary incident where suspension is required
In this way, Sporty helps provide a safer environment and also avoids arguments that might otherwise occur on the sideline.
This functionality was released by Sporty in 2019 for the sport of NZ Rugby League. If your sport wishes to enable this or similar functionality, please simply contact Sporty at support@sportsground.com
