A Certificate of Description is required for some historical events. Owners will get a certificate for historical vehicles to prove that they are what they say they are (classical built vehicles). The CoD certificate number will digitally update to your vehicle record and a PDF certificate of the approved application will be sent from MSNZ.
Completing the Application
A CoD Application can only be applied by the vehicle owner. Go into your vehicle record, drop down the vehicle history section, and click add form. Select the Certificate of Description Application from the dropdown. The vehicle details will be pre-filled, complete all other fields, and then submit. A payment cart will pop up for you to pay any fees. MSNZ will then review your application.

Application Status
- Approved - MSNZ has reviewed the application and all conditions are satisfied.
- Declined – MSNZ has reviewed and declined the application.
Submitting the Application
An application can be edited if it has not yet been approved by MSNZ, this will allow you to gather all required information before submitting to MSNZ. To edit just click the edit application button. Once you have completed the application check the declaration box so MSNZ know that the application is ready to be processed.
When Approved
Once an application is approved, a certificate number will be generated which will display against your vehicle in the app profile.
A PDF certificate will be created and sent to you from MSNZ.
Certificate of Description Audit
At a historical event a CoD Audit maybe required. The auditor will review your CoD application and check that everything on the vehicle complies to the certificate.
