The following article details how you can offer discounts to people registering with your organisation.
If copying a form with discounts set up against products, the discounts will not be copied over into the new form.
Note: this is a premium feature and will only be available if your organisation has this unlocked. Please contact support@sportsground.com for further information.
In this article you will find information on the following areas:
Options available to you to discount your product offerings:
- Product quantity discounts provide a discount for people purchasing multiple quantities of 1 or more products.
- Automated discounts provide a discount on the total cart for individual people based on a question response or entry of a promotional code.
- Limited time offer discounts provide a discount on the total cart for individual people that expires after a specific date.
Below are some example scenarios to help illustrate how discounts can be configured.
First, prepare a registration form and add some products to your forms.
Product quantity discounts
You can apply a discount to a product to apply when a person has selected multiple values of the same product eg: buy 1 pair of socks for $10, or buy 3 for $16. Alternatively, this function can be used if you have Group/Family registrations enabled on your registration forms, and you want to apply a discount if more than one person purchases a product eg: Register 1 child for $40 or register 2 children for $60.
To add a product quantity discount, click Rules next to the product/s you want a discount to apply to.
In this example, we want to add a $10 membership fee discount for registrations of 4 or more members, irrespective of whether they are Junior or Standard memberships.
First, set a value of 4 in the minimum value field, and your desired maximum limit in the maximum value field.
Now, select the product dropdown list to identify the products that should invoke the discount. In this example, both Junior or Standard memberships is selected.
Finally, set the value for the discount. This is applied to each product individually. In this example, $10 (10%) should be discounted from our $100 membership fees.
Click Save Rule.
The Discount Rules modal will now display all rules applied to the product selected.
You can add additional discount rules by selecting New Rule. This new rule will be independent of any existing discounts you have setup. When preparing multiple discount rules, be mindful of any potential overlapping conditions.
In this example, because a discount is set to apply on two products, the discount automatically display against both products - this is indicated by each product displaying an increased Rules count.
Members completing the registration form will now see this discount applied if 4+ family/group members register together.
Quantity discounts on family registrations
If your form allows multiple people to register together you will have two options available when setting up your discount rule. "Apply discount rule per group", & "Apply discount rule per person".
The first option will check the total products purchased by all members of the 'family' when they register. The latter option will be sure to check each person individually.
As an example using the two images above. Steve, Sally, Andrew, & Rebecca all register together. Sally also signs up for 4 weekend tutor sessions & Andrew signs up for 2.
As the membership discount is set to apply when 4 Membership fees are added per group, all 4 friends will have a $10 discount on their Membership fees (for a total of $40 between them).
Because the Tutoring discount only applies per person, Sally will receive a $5 discount on each of her lessons (for a total of $20). Andrew, however, will receive no discount.
Automated discounts
A discount can also be applied to reduce the total cart value for a person registering. This discount can reduce the cart total by a $ amount, or a % amount.
Implementation for use of a promotion code:
First, add a SingleLineText question to your form so that registrants can type in the 'promo code'.
Secondly, create a new product. Be sure to check on 'Hide' so the code will be the only way to add it.
Select Trigger for your new discount product.
Select the question field on your form people will enter the code into.
Then set the answer required (eg. the promo code itself).
Click Save. A list of triggers (promotional codes linked to the promotion code discount) will be displayed.
When people register and enter that code into the Promo Code field, they will receive a single $10 discount for their entire registration (regardless of how many memberships/jerseys they purchase).
Limited time offers
Discounts can also be created which are only available for a limited time. These can be created by adding an expiry date to your Automated discounts and Product quantity discounts.
The following example will use automated discounts to apply a $5 discount for all members who register in the first month of the year.
Create a new product for -$5. Apply the trigger to generate from a mandatory question, so that it is applied to everyone that completes the form during the earlybird period. Now click, Add Expiry Date.
This will add an extension to the discount setup, with the ability to set a final applicable date for the discount.
In this example, there is now a trigger in place that will apply a $5 discount for anyone who registers before 31st Jan 11:59PM. After this date, the discount will be automatically disabled without any further action needed from an administrator.
