How to display draws on your website

Sporty is the official digital partner for Netball NZ, NZ Rugby Union, NZ Football and other many regional Softball, Hockey and other sports associations. Most draws and results in New Zealand are now managed by competition managers using the competition management system from Sporty called 'SKED'. This makes it easy for sports clubs and schools to display a live feed of draws and results of just their own fixtures directly on their own website.

Note: this support article relates to displaying live draws & results for the sports of Rugby, Netball, Softball, Hockey and Touch. If you wish to display Football draws & results, please refer to this support article instead.

Displaying a live feed of draws & results is especially easy if you are using a website on the Sporty platform or the Schoolground platform and for secondary schools using College Sports Portal. If your website is not built on one of these platforms, you can still display your own draws & results on your website using the iFrame method.

To get started, login to the site that is reserved for every club and school in New Zealand through Sporty.co.nz. Go to a page where you'd like your draws & results to display and click ADD CONTENT, then select the Draws & Results: Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Softball, Touch  item from the list.

Filters

The widget modal will open to the Filters Menu.

  1. Select a Sport and Season.
  2. Select the Owner of the SKED widget you are wanting to display.
  3. Select which competitions and  grades you would like to display in the widget.

You can customise the widget further to reduce the number of organisations available for the public to select from, or restrict the returned results to only your organisation by amending the Organisations filter.  All organisations are selected by default.  Use the 'Select all' checkbox to deselect all organisations. Then find your club/school within the list and tick the checkbox to turn it on.  Please note: when you are selecting the Grades, Competition and Organisation there can be a short delay whilst the options are being populated.

The widget display is fully customisable.  You can remove the filters from public display by checking the hide filter options next to each filter type.  For example, if your widget displays a singular grade, this does not need to be displayed for user selection.

Display

The Display Menu provides you with an option to choose how the returned fixture information should be displayed on your site.

Draws, Results and Standings

Choose to display draws, results and standings in one widget, or choose to only display one or two of these items.

Title Bar

You can hide the title bar if you do not want this displayed. This would most likely be unchecked if you were displaying a singular tab (draws/results/standings), and you do not wish to give the public an option to filter or amend the displayed results. In the example below, the Date Range filters are also hidden.

Logos and Team Names

You can hide team Logos or Org/Team Names if you do not want these displayed.  You can also decide what size the logos should be by selecting the Regular or Large option in the ‘Size’ section.

Time & Date and Venue

You can hide the fixture time and date if you do not want these displayed.  This may be pertinent if your draw is only displaying results.

For/Against/Diff

You can hide the points for, points against and points differential from displaying on the standings table.  Note: These fields will only display on mobile view if “Org/Team Name” is hidden.

Size

You can choose to set a default height for the widget to ensure that your page remains visually balanced when you display a draws widget.  Simply select the Pixel height for the widget, and users will be presented with an option to display “more” or “less” of the draw to display all fixtures when viewing on your site.

Style

The Style Menu provides you with design elements that can be applied to your widget to change the look and feel of the returned fixture information on your site.

Title Bar

You can set the title bar colour which applies to the ‘Draws’, ‘Results’ and ‘Standings’ tabs.  The filter options will inherit a ‘reversal’ of this colour, with the background colour being applied to the text in the filters.

By default, the widget automatically inherits your site wide font and font colour, with a fully transparent background.  These can be amended to suit your design requirements.

If the location is set in SKED, the venue becomes clickable to show a Google map of the location.
