Sporty TeamBuilder provides a method for creating teams for competitions and entering and managing people into those teams. TeamBuilder is used by most team sports in New Zealand as the method for clubs/schools to enter teams into competitions, and to put players into those teams.
TeamBuilder is accessed by logging into Sporty, clicking the link to your Dashboard from the top left of the page, then clicking the TeamBuilder tile from the dashboard view.
Once you launch TeamBuilder, you'll see a list of your databases of people (eg Football Player Registration 2023, Rugby Player Registration 2023, etc. Click the database you wish to work with to open the TeamBuilder view for that database.
TeamBuilder displays a list of the people registered into the database on the left. It also lets you add teams within the grades displayed on the right. Once you've added a team, simply use your mouse to click and drag a person from the left and then drop them over the icon for the team on the right. This adds the person to that team.
Note that the list of people on the left are in columns: First name, Last name, Gender, DoB, Grade, Team, etc. You can click a column heading to sort the people within that column. This makes it easy for you to group people by their existing team, grade, etc.
Sporty supports different versions of TeamBuilder for different sports. For example, for the sport of rugby, TeamBuilder displays the weight of people since this is often used to determine which grade/team a player must be allocated to. In some instances, the managers of competitions will set closing dates for team entries (in which case this date will display in TeamBuilder and TeamBuilder will not allow you to add teams after this date) and/or a closing date for team building (in which case this date will display in TeamBuilder and TeamBuilder will not allow you to move players into teams after this date).
