Creating an eNewsletter

To create an eNewsletter navigate to the News & eNewsletter tile from the dashboard and then click Create eNewsletter.

First, enter the subject of your eNewsletter in the Subject field and ensure the From Address is correct.

Next, choose the number of articles you wish to be included in your eNewsletter, and if applicable which news categories these articles should come from. 

You can enter additional information for your eNewsletter into the Intro text field.  Use the editor tool bar to add formatting and style your text or insert images from your Sporty Image library. 

To personalise your eNewsletter, you can select the { } icon to insert the first name merge field. If you are sending the newsletter to a Sporty database. the person's first name will appear in their eNewsletter. 

Note - If you send the enewsletter to a custom email list or to notice subscribers, the merge field will not be used.


You can preview how your eNewsletter will look by clicking Preview. When you're happy with how your eNewsletter looks, click next.  



Sending an eNewsletter

In the select recipients screen, select the groups of people you would like to receive the eNewsletter.

You can add the email addresses of additional recipients in the Custom List area. Just enter the email addresses separated by a comma.  

  •  Your administrators  are people with logins for your main site or your sub sites.
  • Subscribers of the notices widget or subscribe widget are people who have opted in to receive Notices for your main site or your sub sites (refer to this support article regarding the Notices Widget).
  • Forms/Databases are people who are in any of your online registration databases. If you wish to select a specific form within you can click the dropdown arrow beside the database.  you may wish to display a form for people to opt-in to your eNewsletter, in which case the related database will appear automatically here as a recipient group to receive your eNewsletters.  Within your database, you can also select to send a enewsletter specifically tailored to "new" or "returning" registrants based on whether the person had registered to that form in a previous season.
  • A Custom List of your own recipients, for example copied from Excel - you can copy a column of email addresses from an Excel spreadsheet or other source and and simply paste the email addresses into the 'Custom List' section. Don't forget to them tick the checkbox to send the eNewsletter to 'Your own list' to ensure these addresses are included when you send.




If you do not want a person on your database to receive the eNewsletter go into Online Registrations, click into the name of the registration form to view the list of registrants and untick the Email checkbox beside the persons name. Once this is unticked they will not receive your eNewletter: 


 If your ready to send your eNewsletter, click send to send it out to your recipients.


Displaying eNewsletters on your Sporty website

A link can be added to your website for users to view eNewsletters in their web browser. After you have received your eNewsletter email, click on the link in the email to view it in your browser. You can now copy the URL of your eNewsletter.



On your Sporty website add a button widget. Here you can style your button and paste the URL of your eNewsletter into the Link section. Click Save.



When clicking this button in public view, you eNewsltter will display.
